Worship Notes 4th September

Worship Notes

Dear Friends,

Every week we offer worship to God, bringing our prayers and our pain, our praises and our persistence in many different ways and styles. Our people meet in small and large groups, in church, chapel and community centres, sometimes in fellowship with sisters and brothers from other traditions, sometimes as stand alone URC congregations.

Each week lay preachers, Elders and ministers plan worship and we’ve produced notes to help with that task.

Our Worship Notes offer all the prayers needed (and some that might not be!), notes on the readings that could be built into a sermon, and suggestions for hymns (which might be used or might stimulate the thinking of those who lead worship).

This week’s notes have been prepared by the Rev’d Jonnie Hill, minister in the South Manchester and Cheshire Missional Partnership in the North Western Synod.  Jonnie explores the famous passage from Jeremiah where God is compared to a potter and Psalm 139 where we reflect on being fearfully and wonderfully made.  They can be found here https://urc.org.uk/your-faith/prayer-and-worship/worship-notes/

These notes are designed to help folk plan worship locally. We also offer services by PowerPoint (which can be adapted) if you’d prefer to facilitate worship that way as a form of pulpit supply.  Sign up here if you’d like to access those materials and drop me a line so I can send you the current set of PowerPoint material for pulpit supply along wit the audio and print versions to distribute locally to those who can’t get to church and don’t have access to the Internet.

I hope you find them useful – do let us know your thoughts on these resources as you use them.

with every good wish

Andy
