Covid Memorial Day on Sunday

Covid Memorial Day on Sunday 3rd March

Dear Friends,

Covid Memorial Day is observed on the anniversary of the first death from Covid in the UK.  The URC has made the following prayer available for personal and public prayer.  It may be used freely.

O Most High,
source of all that lives,
we still remember
those we have lost due to Covid,
    the heroism of medical staff,
    the kindness of strangers,
and policies which houses the homeless to keep them safe.

Jesus,
our table-turning guide,
we are still angry
    so many lives lost,
    so many rule breaking parties,
    so much incompetence,
    so much corruption.

Holy Spirit,
balm of healing,
we still need your love
    for those who are bereaved,
    for those who are exhausted,
for those living with long Covid,
    for those still angry
and for those still needing to repent.

Eternal Trinity,
turn our memories into cairns that we don’t forget,
our tears into compassion for those who still suffer,
and our anger into action that we may change our world.
Amen.

With every good wish

Andy
