Music at St Andrews

Music at St Andrews

Music at St AndrewsMusic has always been an important part of our worship at St Andrew’s and we sing a variety of hymns, both traditional and contemporary. A choir is sometimes formed for special occasions to enhance and contribute to those services. The choir normally takes the form of a double quartet.

We are really fortunate to have the services of two extremely accomplished musicians who accompany our services using either the organ or the piano as appropriate to the music style. If neither are available then the Minister fills in!

The organ is a good, two manual, electric instrument and is extremely versatile.

Piano

We have two good, upright pianos, one in the church and one in the hall.  It’s not at all unusual for a piano duet or even a piece arranged for two pianos to be included in our worship.

A local choir rehearses in our church on a Monday evening and we also generally host two or three concerts a year.  The church has a good acoustic.

So, there’s quite a bit of music going on at St Andrew’s, all to a good standard.

Oh, and we also possess a good choir library, again of both traditional and contemporary music
