Worship Notes and Intercessions for Sunday

Worship Resources

Dear Friends,

I hope you are finding these quieter days between Christmas and New Year restful.  Some time ago I planned the Worship Notes for Sunday and have adapted the intercessions within them to echo some of the news stories of recent days.  You can find the Worship notes here and the link to the adapted prayers is just above them.

In the Worship Notes I suggest looking at the idea of being unable to keep silent in the face of good news.  The prophet Isaiah is not able to keep silent in the face of the news of the return from Exile, Anna and Simeon must declare both the works of God – and some hard news – when they encounter the Holy Family in the Temple, and St Paul is unable to keep silent about some of his strongly held views!  I suggest we too should be unwilling to keep silent in the face of the good news of God becoming human, taking on our flesh and frailty.  I provide a Call to Worship based on the carol Joy to the World and an Affirmation of Faith based on the carol What Child is This?  There’s a short all-age activity and some suggestions for carols.

With every good wish

Andy
