Genesis, Exodus, Jonah and the Basis of Union!
Genesis and more….
Dear Friends,
I hope you enjoyed our reflections on 2 Corinthians. You will have noticed that, yesterday, we started a new series looking at Genesis. Over the next few weeks we will read through many of the stories in Genesis – some, like the creation accounts, are very familiar. Other stories, however, are ones that aren’t read out in church; ones we’re tempted to skip over when we read the Bible. Stories of rape, bitterness and anger fill the pages of Genesis alongside the more comfortable stories. We will be reading more or less all of Genesis but skipping the stories on Joseph which we looked at last year.
After Genesis we will start to read through Exodus until, in July, we take a break and have a 10 days with Janet Tollington looking at the Book of Jonah and then four weeks or so looking at our Basis of Union before returning to some more Old Testament stories.
With the press ablaze with stories about the lockdown being eased and with our governments busy quashing that speculation we’re living through difficult times. We don’t know how long it will be before we can worship together again in church and, if we can, what such worship might look and feel like. I hope, therefore, that the daily diet of Daily Devotions supplemented by the weekly worship we offer helps to keep us connected with God and each other during these strange times.
with every good wish
Andy
